Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador
of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United States of America, Washington,
D.C.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary
of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United States of America, Dr.
Bisera Turkovic, presented her credentials to H.E. George W. Bush,
the President of the United States of America, on October 3, 2005.
Dr. Turkovic is also serving as the Permanent
Observer of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Organization of American
States (OAS) in Washington D.C.
Dr. Turkovic is a Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador
of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Mexican States, with residence
in Washington D.C. Ambassador Turkovic has presented her credentials
to H.E. Vincente Fox Quesada, the President of the United Mexican
States, on March 23, 2006.
Dr. Turkovic is also Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador
of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Federative Republic of Brazil, with
residence in Washington D.C. Ambassador Turkovic has presented
her credentials to H.E. Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the President
of Federative Republic of Brazil, on 17 of May, 2007.
Prior to her current appointment,
Dr. Turkovic served as the Permanent Representative of Bosnia and
Herzegovina to the United Nations Office in Vienna, Austria (UNOV).
Dr. Turkovic was ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the International
Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty
Organization (CTBTO), United Nations Industrial Development Organization
(UNIDO), as well as the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to
the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE)
in Vienna, Austria.
Between 2001 and 2004 Dr. Turkovic served as the Executive Director
of the Centre for Security Studies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as
well as a lecturer at the Faculty of Criminal Justice, University
of Sarajevo. From 2000 to 2001, Dr. Turkovic worked as Minister
for European Integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dr. Turkovic
also served as Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the OSCE
from 1996 to 2000, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Hungary
(1994-1996), and Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Croatia
(1993-1994). She was first bilateral ambassador appointed by Bosnia
and Herzegovina.
Dr. Turkovic holds a degree in Law from the University of Sarajevo
and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice Administration
from the Philip Institute of Technology (Melbourne, Australia).
She did her post graduate studies in Criminology at the University
of LaTrobe (Melbourne, Australia), and holds a PhD in International
Relations from Pacific Western University (United States). She occassionally
lectures at various Universities (Sarajevo University, Webster University,
etc)..
